New Law to Strengthen State Efforts to Combat Prescription Drug Abuse
Governor Pat McCrory recently signed legislation that will strengthen and improve the North Carolina Controlled Substances Reporting System and make it a more useful tool to identify individuals who might be abusing or misusing prescription medications, refer them to treatment, and to prevent inappropriate use or distribution of prescription drugs.
DHHS Confirms N.C. Death from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed a Buncombe County child's death in early June was the result of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, the first confirmed death due to RMSF in North Carolina since 2009.
